Overview#

Find answers to the most common questions about using Pofano.

How do I get an API key?#

You can obtain an API key from the Pofano console. See the Get Your API Key guide for step-by-step instructions.

Why is my request failing with 401?#

A 401 error means your request is not authenticated. Check that:

  • You are including the Authorization header.
  • The header format is Bearer YOUR_API_KEY.
  • Your API key is valid and has not expired or been revoked.

What model name should I use?#

Model availability depends on the providers configured for your account. Check the List Models page or call the /v1/models endpoint to see available models and their exact names.

How do I understand my balance and quota?#

Pofano uses a quota-based billing system. Each request deducts quota based on token usage and model pricing. You can check your remaining balance from the console's Balance section. For a detailed explanation, see Billing & Quota.

Why can't my app connect?#

Check the following:

  • The base URL is https://ai.pofano.com.
  • Your API key is included and correctly formatted.
  • Your network can reach the API endpoint (firewall or proxy may block it).
  • You are using HTTPS (plain HTTP is not supported).

What is quota and how is it calculated?#

Quota is the usage credit on Pofano. Each request deducts quota based on token usage and model pricing. In many deployments, 500,000 quota is roughly one USD-equivalent unit. For full details, see Billing & Quota.
